After a career of helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Reverend Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) has a crisis of conscience and decides to come clean by filming a documentary exposing his fraudulent ways before walking away from it all. With his film crew in tow, the reverend travels to the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, a pious fundamentalist who believes his teenage daughter Nell is possessed. Among other horrific things, Nell (Ashley Bell) wakes up each day covered in the blood of another butchered farm animal—but without any memory of the deeds. As a result, the desperate Louis is certain Nell must be exorcized or this terrifying ordeal will continue. At first employing his usual tricks, Cotton soon realizes that despite all his years of religious charades nothing has prepared him for what he actually encounters on that farm. Coming face to face with the Devil himself, Reverend Marcus’ own faith is truly tested when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell—and themselves—before it is too late.
